EDGE+R is a hands-on type program where mindsets and skills necessary for forming a “creative team” that can start innovations can be learnt through experiencing and actually feeling the process and stimulation of new value creation as a “team” among mixture of diverse participants, rather than as an individual.
Ritsumeikan University Innovation Architect Development program (EDGE + R) develops “Innovation architects.” “Innovation architects” mean talents who have mindsets that can cope with the world that continues to globalize and diversify, and who can form / draw a team and who have the ability to create new values midst of diverse and clashing sense of values and information. We strive to develop talents who can form “creative team” that can someday start innovations in various “stages” of society, and who can pass on the acquired mindsets and skills to new members and thus construct a “proliferating type innovation ecosystem” that can create innovation one after another.
Ritsumeikan University Innovation Architect Development (EDGE + R) is a full year extracurricular program that is made up of hands-on seminars and overseas training that are centered on People-Based-Learning that is studied with a focus on “people.” Target talents are not limited to specific departments or graduate courses but instead recruited from all departments/graduate courses/courses of the university, and participants from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University and outside are also accepted; with participants from diverse backgrounds, mixed teams of integrated arts and science orientation are formed. Support structure also goes beyond the boundaries of fields; faculty members specializing in science and engineering, management, technology management and various other specialties provide supports transversally, and at the same time individuals with rich experiences in industries are invited as mentors.
7-persons-a-team as basic form is used to form Needs-type or Seeds-type teams, and turns a cycle of issue extraction, issue formation and issue resolution. The subject of team activities are envisioned to be varied, such as technical seeds based on specialist knowledge / expertise of the participants themselves, technical seeds belonging to research laboratories of this university, needs proposed by collaborating companies, or social needs. This is a hands-on type learning where diversified scrambles are created from proactive exchanges with not only inside the team but also between the teams, experiencing essential “fun,” “excitement” and “process” of new value creation.
