Osaka Prefecture University provides exercises that would substantiate entrepreneur development by introducing “industry drawn type” high-level talent development system, cultivation tool for “kotozukuri* thinking,” design thinking and ideation skills. In Advanced course, participants are supported multilaterally on their business startups through practical exercises that utilize individual research results, organically and seamlessly constructing base for innovation ecosystem.

*kotodukuri = ability to look at complicated things from a panoramic view

Talents we cultivate

We aim to develop talents with following abilities.

  • Having an overall perspective that can utilize research results to social innovations or new industry creations, as well as topic setting ability and business planning skills
  • Intellectual property and financial management abilities towards business startup and business creation
  • Able to work out strategies with technology as foundation and based on design thinking (kotodukuri ideas)
  • Ideation skills that can set research topics towards social innovation creations from proactive cooperation with users, researchers of application fields, humanists, sociologists and civil servants
  • Research, policy and business planning abilities based on design thinking and ideation skills

Contents of the program

This project specializes in development of high-level researchers into virtual entrepreneurs with “Knowledge Platform of MOT (Management of Technology)” and “Industrialization / Business Startup Support Platform,” and strives to form a base for innovation ecosystem equipped with sustained support structure for business establishment / commercialization. Following programs are provided.

  • Design-type exercise course that introduced ideation skills to cultivation tool for “kotozukuri thinking / system thinking” that had been time-tested as “industry drawn type” high-level talent development system (design-type system thinking exercises, business planning exercises, management exercises)
  • Pragmatic PBL exercise course based on corporate consortiums such as plant factories, as well as collaboration with regional industries, academia and government, including government administrations, Technology Research Institute of Osaka Prefecture and regional companies
  • Advanced course that substantiates commercialization support / entrepreneur development through practical exercises that utilize research results of individual participants (technology policy making, venture business theories, financial plans, MOT consulting exercises, PBL overseas internships)

Above exercises would evolve from group meetings, presentations within the group to preparation of business proposals. This leads to practical exercises for constructing new exit image, by creating a framework for workshop or individual dialogue personally, and cooperating with multitude of institutions and talents with diverse qualities. As a stage for talents exchange, ideation workshops (i-WS) would be held every month, alternating in and out of the university premise.
